1 Corinthians 11:11-12
11 Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man nor man of woman; 12 for as woman was made from man, so man is now born of woman. And all things are from God.
In verse 11 Paul makes the interesting assertion that "woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman". We like to think that we are independent, and our culture often celebrates independence, but the reality is that we need each other. Furthermore, we need the other gender. This is one of the problems with homosexuality, in that it denies the necessity of the other sex. The fact is that we were created male and female, and we were created to be together, to complement each other. The fact that we need each other is not a sign of weakness, but is something to be thankful for.
Lord, thank you for the other gender, and help me to appreciate how it balances my own gender.
