1 Corinthians 6:18a
18 Flee from sexual immorality.
The phrase in verse 18, "flee from sexual immorality", is short, succinct, and contains an important truth. The word "flee" suggests that we run, not walk, away from danger. We typically get in trouble when we downplay the danger and think it is okay to be careless with our boundaries. But the wise response is to "flee", to recognize that this is a danger to our purity, and not risk losing our purity by being slow to react. In truth, we sometimes don't flee because we want to enjoy the stimulus of the immorality without doing anything really bad. But that is a false hope, for if we don't flee we will probably succumb to the danger.
Lord, help me to flee sexual immorality.
