1 Corinthians 6:19b-20
19 You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
Following God requires a change in mindset from the common view of the world. One of the differences is in who we believe is in control. The common view is that we are in control of our own lives, and we have the right to make our own decisions about our bodies. But the Bible says: "You are not your own, for you were bought with a price" (verses 19-20). This is a radically different view, and an important truth. When we say that we want to follow God, that we accept the sacrifice of Jesus, these are not just nice words to say. Ideas have consequences, and a consequence of this idea is that Jesus paid the price to exchange our sin nature for God's spirit, so now we belong to Jesus. That means that we are no longer independent (we actually never were, but now it is official). Now we belong to God, and our bodies belong to God. So when faced with temptation, we should ask: "God, what do you want me to do with my body?".
Lord, I give you control of my spirit and my body.
