1 Thessalonians 1:4-7
4 For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, 5 because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake. 6 And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you received the word in much affliction, with the joy of the Holy Spirit, 7 so that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia.
Do you want people to imitate you? Do you want your children to copy your spritual life? Your sexual life? Paul commends the believers in Thessalonica for imitating him: "you became imitators of us and of the Lord" (verse 6). This presumes that he has a life worth imitating, and this is a challenge to us who seem stuck in our sins. The goal is to become someone that we would want others to imitate.
Lord, I confess that I have often not been a good example to those around me. Help me to be an example of Your purity.
