2 Chronicles 18:1
Now Jehoshaphat had great riches and honor, and he made a marriage alliance with Ahab.
2 Chronicles 19:1-2
Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned in safety to his house in Jerusalem. 2 But Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat, “Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Because of this, wrath has gone out against you from the Lord.
Jehoshaphat was generally a good king who followed the Lord. However, at one point he allied himself with King Ahab, marrying his daughter and going to war with him. King Ahab was an evil king, and God was not pleased by Jehoshaphat's alliance with Ahab. The prophet's rebuke of Jehoshaphat could also be a rebuke to us, when we make friends with evil. For example, when we buy pornography or engage in relations with a prostitute, we are helping people who have set themselves against God. Pornography and the sex industry is a multi-billion dollar industry, and we are funding it through our actions. Is that really what we want? We need to be careful who we are friends with, and who we support, in case we end up aligning ourselves against God and his holiness.
Lord, forgive me for the evil I have mistakenly supported.
