2 Corinthians 12:21
21 I fear that when I come again my God may humble me before you, and I may have to mourn over many of those who sinned earlier and have not repented of the impurity, sexual immorality, and sensuality that they have practiced.
This verse causes me to ask myself: do I mourn and grieve over sin? We all know that sin is wrong, that we shouldn't do it. But there is a difference between knowing something is wrong, and actually grieving it. The knowledge that something is wrong can actually be a temptation, as we secretly delight in forbidden fruit. But mourning and grieving reflects a heart that has been changed, such that our desires are changed.
Lord, help me to mourn and grieve my sin, to truly see the damage it causes and to desire instead to follow You.
