2 Kings 12:1-2
1 In the seventh year of Jehu, Jehoash began to reign, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Zibiah of Beersheba. 2 And Jehoash did what was right in the eyes of the Lord all his days, because Jehoiada the priest instructed him.
Who instructs you? Who do we learn from? Jehoash did what was right because he was taught well. Previous Kings of Judah were influenced by Jezebel who introduced the worship of Baal. But Jehoash was influenced by a godly person, and it resulted in godly behavior. The truth is that we are influenced by those around us, especially when we are children (Jehoash became king as a child). If we don't have godly mentors in our lives, then we may need to seek some out. Our recovery from sinful habits may require us to stop associating with people who are a bad influence on us, and start associating with people who can encourage the good in us.
Lord, help me to find godly mentors and friends, and to learn from them.
