Deuteronomy 22:5
5 “A woman shall not wear a man's garment, nor shall a man put on a woman's cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God.
This is not simply a verse about how women should not wear pants. We need to look deeper, at the principle embodied in the verse. The point is that women should not try to look like men, and men should not try to look like women. It is okay for women to wear pants (or men kilts!) as long as they are not rejecting their gender identity. God designed gender to be a blessing. Both male and female are made in His image. Unfortunately society has sometimes valued the male gender more than the female, but the truth is that they are equally valuable in God's sight. If we don’t recognize the value and goodness of our gender we can become unsatisfied with who we are, and want to be something else. Thus the rise of transgender behavior, which is what this verse is really addressing. When we reject the gender that God has given us, we are not simply rebelling against society, but are also rebelling against God's plan for our lives. Your gender is not a mistake, but is a beautiful gift.
Thank you Lord for the gender that you gave me, and help me to appreciate it.
