Deuteronomy 6:4-5
4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.”
We should love God with all our heart, soul, and might. That sounds nice, but do I really do it? So often my love of God is just an intellectual agreement rather than a real passion. God is calling us here to be fully sold out, committed to Him. We are supposed to love Him with ALL of our heart, ALL of our soul, and ALL of our might. Not just on Sunday, not just a partial commitment, but ALL the time with ALL of our being. If we do this, we won't sin. When we sin we are saying that a part of us prefers to be apart from God. This is painful to admit, that we don't fully love God, but true repentance and change starts with our admitting that we don't fully love God like we should, and grieving over our lack of love.
Lord, I confess that I don't love You as I should. In my mind I know you are wonderful, but in my heart I keep my distance. Help me to love You fully, as You love me fully.
