Ezekiel 22:9-11,30
9 There are men in you who slander to shed blood, and people in you who eat on the mountains; they commit lewdness in your midst. 10 In you men uncover their fathers' nakedness; in you they violate women who are unclean in their menstrual impurity. 11 One commits abomination with his neighbor's wife; another lewdly defiles his daughter-in-law; another in you violates his sister, his father's daughter....
30 And I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none.
Israel was guilty of many sins, including sexual immorality, adultery, and incest (verses 9-11). In response, God "sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before me" (verse 30). How sad that no one could be found to "stand in the breach"! In our present generation and culture, there is likewise much sin and immorality. Am I willing to be the one to stand in the gap, to rebuild the wall of holiness? This is not an easy task, for standing in the breach means standing against the prevailing culture. We will be ridiculed and even persecuted, but God is looking for people to stand in the breach and rebuild the walls for His sake.
Lord, help me to stand for You.
