Galatians 5:13-14
13 For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
Paul's letter to the Galatians is mostly about the freedom we have in Christ. We are indeed free, but Paul also warns us to "not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh" (verse 13). The purpose of our freedom is not to give us an excuse or rationalization to sin. Just because we don't have to follow all of the Old Testament law to be accepted by God does not mean that we can therefore do whatever we want. We have to be careful here, for it is easy to try and rationalize adjusting the boundaries to fit our desires, rather than adjusting our desires to fit God. Our freedom should prompt us to gratefulness and service ("through love serve one another" verse 13), not to selfishness.
Lord, thank you for Your freedom. May I use that freedom to serve and bless others.
