Habakkuk 3:17-19
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, 18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. 19 God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer's; he makes me tread on my high places.
Habakkuk ends his book with a declaration of faith and trust. "Though the fig tree should not blossom ... I will take joy in the God of my salvation"(verses 17-18). In other words, though I don't see immediate blessings, yet I will trust God and rejoice in His goodness. He goes on to say that "God, the Lord, is my strength" (verse 19). He is not trusting in the circumstances, or in his own wisdom or self-control, but he is trusting in God to accomplish the task. We need to likewise trust God and not ourselves to accomplish our healing. For God can "make my feet like the deer's, he makes me tread on my high places" (verse 19). Deer are capable of climbing difficult rocky mountains, and the good news is that God can mold our character so that we too can climb to the higher ground of righteousness.
Lord, thank you for being my strength and salvation.
