Hebrews 4:14-16
14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
In these verses we are reminded that Jesus understands our struggles. "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin" (verse 15). Jesus was tempted sexually. He undoubtedly thought that women were very attractive. So he understands my own struggles. This is why we can "with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need" (verse 16). Our inclination is to try and hide from God when we struggle with sin, but in reality we should approach him "with confidence", because he understands us. In doing so "we may receive mercy" and "grace to help", which is what we really need.
Lord, thank you for understanding my struggle. It is comforting to know that I can approach You even when I have messed up.
