Hosea 10:12-13
12 Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you. 13 You have plowed iniquity; you have reaped injustice; you have eaten the fruit of lies. Because you have trusted in your own way and in the multitude of your warriors,
In the past, we have invested a lot of time and energy in our sin. The bad fruit of that investment is one of the reasons I am writing these notes on the Bible. As it says in verse 13, You have plowed iniquity; you have reaped injustice; you have eaten the fruit of lies". When we invest ourselves in sin, we bear the consequences of those sins. But the good news is that this can work both ways. If we invest ourselves in righteousness, we can gain the rewards of righteousness. As it says in verse 12, "Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love". Part of the work of sowing righteousness is to "break up your fallow ground" (verse 12), meaning that we need to dig up the junk in our lives so that we can plant new growth. This is hard work, but it results in the fruit of steadfast love and God's blessings.
Lord, help me to invest my time and energy in Your kingdom.
