Hosea 6:1-3
“Come, let us return to the Lord; for he has torn us, that he may heal us; he has struck us down, and he will bind us up. 2 After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will raise us up, that we may live before him. 3 Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.”
Amidst the proclaiming of God's judgement on Israel in chapter 5 and later in chapter 6, there is a message of hope. The hope is that though "he has torn us", yet "he may heal us" (verse 1). For God is merciful, and wants to restore us. But we need to repent (verse 1) and then persevere (verses 2-3). When we feel lost and hopeless, we need to remember that God still loves us, and He will come for us. So don't give up, but instead "let us press on to know the Lord" (verse 3), so that "on the third day he will raise us up, that we may live before him" (verse 2).
Lord, may we learn to persevere in trusting You.
