Isaiah 1:18-20
18 “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. 19 If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; 20 but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be eaten by the sword; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
This is good news. It is easy to feel hopeless when we think about our sin and all the misery we have caused, but God has the power to wash away our sin and give us new life. Though our sins are many and are "red like crimson" (verse 18), we can be washed clean, becoming "as white as snow". We can become "born again virgins", erasing (in God's eyes) the stain of our previous sexual encounters. The past is done with, the important thing now is where are we headed? They key is for us to be "willing and obedient" (verse 19); when that happens together with our confession of sin, we become new creatures thanks to the amazing grace of God.
Lord, thank You for Your forgiveness, and the hope of new life.
