Isaiah 42:23-25
23 Who among you will give ear to this, will attend and listen for the time to come? 24 Who gave up Jacob to the looter, and Israel to the plunderers? Was it not the Lord, against whom we have sinned, in whose ways they would not walk, and whose law they would not obey? 25 So he poured on him the heat of his anger and the might of battle; it set him on fire all around, but he did not understand; it burned him up, but he did not take it to heart.
Have you ever been "burned" by sin? I think it is safe to say that all of us have at one point or another. The real question is did we learn anything from it? Verse 25 is a sad indictment of Israel and us. God can bring good out of a bad situation if we let Him teach us through it. But if we refuse to learn, if we don't "take it to heart" (verse 25), we'll end up getting burned again.
Lord, help me to learn from my mistakes.
