Isaiah 44:21-23
21 Remember these things, O Jacob, and Israel, for you are my servant; I formed you; you are my servant; O Israel, you will not be forgotten by me. 22 I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud and your sins like mist; return to me, for I have redeemed you. 23 Sing, O heavens, for the Lord has done it; shout, O depths of the earth; break forth into singing, O mountains, O forest, and every tree in it! For the Lord has redeemed Jacob, and will be glorified in Israel.
In contrast to the previous verses where God chastises us for trusting in idols, these verses lead us back to the true God and our response to Him. In verse 21 God reassures us that we are His creation, His servants, and He will not forget us. In verse 22 He states that He has "blotted out your transgressions like a cloud and your sins like mist", and calls us to return to Him, "for I have redeemed you". This is wonderful news: the almighty creator of the universe, the only true God, loves us, forgives us, and wants to have a relationship with us. The only proper response is to "sing" and "shout" (verse 23).
We shout for joy in thanksgiving for Your forgiveness.
