James 2:12-13
12 So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty. 13 For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
If we are honest with ourselves, we know that we deserve judgment for our sins. But there is good news: "mercy triumphs over judgment" (verse 13). Though we are guilty, God is merciful, and will forgive us. In response, we should be merciful to others, "for judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy" (verse 13). It would be hypocrital of me to not be merciful to others, given the mercy that I have received.
Lord, I know that I have sinned and could be rightly judged for many things. Thank you for Your mercy, and help me to be merciful to others.
