Jeremiah 13:25-27
25 This is your lot, the portion I have measured out to you, declares the Lord, because you have forgotten me and trusted in lies. 26 I myself will lift up your skirts over your face, and your shame will be seen. 27 I have seen your abominations, your adulteries and neighings, your lewd whorings, on the hills in the field. Woe to you, O Jerusalem! How long will it be before you are made clean?”
In verses 26-27 God says that He will expose our sin and shame, that others may see it. At first glance this seems rather harsh and not very loving. But there comes a point where the loving thing to do is to expose and confront our sin. We may wish that God would be codependent and ignore our sin, but that is not what will ultimately help us. So God in His "tough love" decides to expose our sin in hopes that we will repent.
God, I want to be pure, so I give you permission to do whatever it takes to get my attention (but please be merciful!).
