Mark 1:40-42
40 And a leper came to him, imploring him, and kneeling said to him, “If you will, you can make me clean.” 41 Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand and touched him and said to him, “I will; be clean.” 42 And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean.
The unnamed man with leprosy in verse 40 made a request of Jesus for all of us: "If you will, you can make me clean". This is what we all want, to be clean. But there is a fear in us too, that doubts whether God would be willing to heal us. We need to take to heart the response of Jesus in verse 41: "Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand and touched him and said to him, 'I will; be clean'". Let this truth sink into our souls, that Jesus has compassion on us and is willing to heal us. What a tremendous relief, to know that we are not doomed to stay stuck where we are, but we have a God who cares about us and wants to make us whole!
Lord, thank you for having compassion on me.
