Mark 4:26-29
26 And he said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground. 27 He sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows; he knows not how. 28 The earth produces by itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. 29 But when the grain is ripe, at once he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”
God works in ways that are beyond our understanding. We can be encouraged that He is at work even when we don't see the immediate fruit. Recovery is a process, and sometimes a long one at that. It may seem at times like nothing is improving, but there may be inner work going on that will later reveal itself to the world. In this passage Jesus uses the parable of growing seeds, and how they grow even when not being actively worked on, and even though we don't understand what is happening (verse 27). Finally the seed comes up through the soil and flowers, but it was at work all along. Likewise we can trust that God is at work in us, even if we don't have the full, flowering fruit of purity yet.
Lord, thank you for always being at work in my life.
