Matthew 5:27-28
27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Sin is not just about the actions we do. It is really a matter of the heart. It is tempting to believe that it is okay to look as long as we don't touch. But Jesus says that "everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart" (verse 28). God knows your heart and your thoughts, and He sees the connection between thoughts and actions, so He is concerned about our thoughts. Our goal should not be to simply stop committing adultery, or stop masturbating, but rather to change our thoughts and fantasies to be more aligned with God's thoughts.
Lord, help my thoughts to be pure.
