Philippians 4:8
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
You are what you think. Our behavior flows out of our thinking; when we think and fantasize about sexual immorality, we tend to fall into that immorality. So if we really want to be pure, we need to think about purity. What if we were to take any fantasy or objectifying thought and consider it under the conditions listed in verse 8: is it true? is it honorable? is it just? is it pure? etc. If it is not, we should not think about it. Instead we need to replace the impure thoughts with thoughts about truth, about purity, about excellence. I know this can sound simplistic, but we really need to evaluate what we put our mental energy into, and whether that aligns with our values.
Lord, so often I think about useless things of this world. Help me to think Your thoughts.
