Proverbs 21:17
17 Whoever loves pleasure will be a poor man; he who loves wine and oil will not be rich.
Sin is expensive. Spiritually it costs us peace and joy and even salvation. Financially it costs us too. Think of the all the lost hours spent in fantasizing and pursuing sexual thrills, then multiply that by your hourly wage. Then there is the cost of broken marriages, and all the associated legal and financial costs. In the moment we may think only of the pleasure, but in the long run there is a cost to pay, and it may be substantial. Purity is not only good for our soul, but it is also good for us materially.
Lord, help me to count the cost of my pleasure-seeking.
