Proverbs 31:10-12,28-31
10 An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. 11 The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. 12 She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life..... 28 Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 29 "Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all." 30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.
This is a description of the virtuous wife, and as a husband it reminds me of the need to be thankful and appreciative of my wife. Too often we husbands complain about our wives and use their shortcomings as excuses to act out. No wife or person is perfect, but the truth is that our wives can be a blessing (verses 10-12), and we need to publicly praise and affirm her virtues (verses 28-31). Rather than focus on her failings, we need to focus on the good things she does. So let's take time today to praise our wives!
Lord, thank you for the godly woman you gave me as my wife.
