Psalm 105:1-4
1 Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! 2 Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! 3 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice! 4 Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!
What's the antidote to temptation? Verse 4 is a good start: "Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually". First of all, we can't do it on our own. We need the Lord and we need His strength. Left to my own strength, I'll continue to fall. But when I seek God, I gain access to a greater power that can help me to resist and overcome temptation. The second key point is that we need to seek His face "continually". It's not just a one shot deal where we click our heels, pray a special prayer, and then we're fine for the rest of our lives (it is a nice fantasy though...). Instead it's a continual process, where we constantly need to be in God's presence, receiving His life, relying on His strength.
Lord, help me to seek You at all times.
