Romans 1:26-27
26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
One of the consequences of sexual sin is that it gets progressively worse. We get excited by the forbidden nature of it, so after experiencing a sin, we then need a newer, "worse" sin to excite us. That is how we end doing things that when we started on the path we never thought we would ever do. Paul hints at this progression when he says "God gave them up to dishonorable passions" (verse 26). The result was that they "exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature" (verse 26). This is one of the clearest passages in the Bible on the sin of homosexuality, which Paul views as replacing "natural relations". This is not the place for a detailed exegesis of passages about homosexuality, but we need to be cautioned by Paul's concern that if our sexual immorality is unchecked we will plunge further into sin and "unnatural" relations, for we will lose touch with the natural sexuality that God created in us.
Lord, it is scary to think of where my lust can lead me. Help me to stop the downward spiral of sexual sin in my life.
