Romans 2:4
4 Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?
God is very patient with us; if He wasn't, we'd all be dead by now! For we all have sinned, we all have done something to deserve His judgement. But God is patient and kind with us, giving us another chance (and another chance, and another chance). We should be grateful for His mercy, but we should not "presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience" (verse 4). God's kindness and patience is not a gift to be taken lightly, or used as an excuse to not improve. The point of God's kindness is "to lead you to repentance" (verse 4). It is to offer us hope of a better way of life, an opportunity to repent and improve ourselves.
God, thank you for Your great undeserved mercy to me, and help me to not take Your mercy for granted.
