Confession and Communion
Pastor or RF: We are now going to offer communion. But prior to communion, you are going to have a chance to nail any sins that you wish to confess to this cross. Jesus died on the cross so our sins would be forgiven, so the cross is where we need to take our sins. The way we are going to do this is you can come up, take a piece of paper and pencil and write down any sins you want to confess, then come to the cross, take a nail and the hammer, and nail it to the cross. If you want, you can fold the paper so no one sees what it says. After you've done that, you can take communion. This is the end of the service, so after finishing communion, you are welcome to leave. We ask that you leave quietly, and not engage in conversation in the sanctuary. Communion is especially appropriate on this day, because it was instituted at the Last Supper. In the words of I Corinthians 11:23-26:
"For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me." In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me." For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes."
