1 Samuel 16:6-7
6 When they came, he looked on Eliab and thought, “Surely the Lord's anointed is before him.” 7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
Those who struggle with lust are particularly prone to focus on the outward appearance. That is part of "objectifying" someone, in that we only think about outward appearance. But when God looks at a woman or man he sees the whole person, not just their body. He sees their hopes and dreams, their personality, their soul and spirit. If we are to have the mind of Christ, we must also have the eyes of Christ, which means seeing others as God sees them, not as sexual objects but as children of God.
Heavenly Father, help me to see others as You see them.
