2 Peter 1:3-4
3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, 4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.
It is easy to get discouraged in the battle for purity. In those times, this passage is a comforting promise to us. Peter declares that God "has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness" (verse 3), "so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature" and "escape" "sinful desire" (verse 4). In other words, we already have everything we need to overcome lust and live in purity. We don't need any additional magical resource, or spiritual gift or seminary degree. We just need to learn how to use what God has already made available. The strength to do this is in God, and as believers we already have access to God's power.
Lord, thank you for giving me the power to live a holy life.
