Job 42:1-6
1 Then Job answered the Lord and said: 2 “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted. 3 ‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’ Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know. 4 ‘Hear, and I will speak; I will question you, and you make it known to me.’ 5 I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you; 6 therefore I despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes.”
Throughout this book Job has wrestled with questions of fairness and evil, and "why?" questions for God. Finally God Himself answers out of the whirlwind (chapters 38-41). God doesn't really answer Job's questions directly, what he does is correct Job's perspective. So that in the end, Job realizes the greatness of God (verse 2) and the smallness of himself (verse 6). This is the perspective that we all need to have. In our twisted addicted thinking, the world revolves around ourselves and our desires. If we can truly see God as the loving, omnipotent, omniscient Creator of the world, and ourselves as created, dependent children, then we can more easily learn to trust God with control of our lives.
Heavenly Father, I entrust my life to Your control.
