Matthew 11:28-30
28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
The previous scripture was a harsh warning, but lest we become afraid of approaching Jesus, we need to balance it with these words of comfort: "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (verse 28). What comforting, inviting words! Our battle with sin and temptation can make us weary, and sometimes when we are weary we want to escape into fantasies and distractions. But real rest and peace and strength is found in Jesus, so we must remember this invitation.
Lord, thank you for your rest and comfort.
