Micah 4:5
5 For all the peoples walk each in the name of its god, but we will walk in the name of the Lord our God forever and ever.
Some people are not particularly religious, but that doesn't mean they are really independent. If we don't follow God, we follow other gods or idols. It may be work, or money, or power, or sex, or even seemingly good things like family, but we all have belief systems that give meaning to our lives. As Micah says in verse 5, we all follow some god. But false gods and idols won't bring true fulfillment. Only God, the creator and sustainer of the universe, can bring true fulfillment. When we put our faith in God we are saying that this is the God we will follow, not our previous idols. So will I "walk in the name of the Lord our God" (verse 5), or will I walk in the way of lust and immorality?
Lord, help me to follow You and You alone.
