Proverbs 16:2
2 All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord.
Proverbs 16:25
25 There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.
We are naturally talented at deceiving ourselves. It is not hard to convince ourselves that something is right, when in actuality it is wrong. Often we fall into sin because "it feels right", and only later do we realize the folly we have committed. Sexual sin is particularly tempting in this way, for the enticing pleasure clouds our thinking. For this reason, we need to humbly be aware of our propensity to be wrong. To balance our thinking we need to be honest about our thoughts and be accountable to others and to God, giving them an opportunity to speak truth into our life.
Lord, give me wisdom to see through my denial and rationalizations.
