Proverbs 20:11
11 Even a child makes himself known by his acts, by whether his conduct is pure and upright.
It is easy to say that we want to be pure, but the proof is in our actions. Our behavior provides an objective measurement of where our heart really is. If we say that we don't want to sin, but we do sin, then something is not right despite our words. The sobering truth is that when I don't act in a way that matches my words, it has often been because I'm saying words that I know I "should" say, but don't really mean. I know I'm supposed to be pure, so I say that I want to be pure, but part of me is holding onto the immoral desire.
Lord, change my heart, so that my actions reflect a pure heart.
