Psalm 16:11
11 You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
The life of faith is not just a life of denial. Although there are sinful pleasures we must turn away from, there are also pleasures and blessings that we gain. God is not some cosmic kill-joy, but is a loving Father that wants to bless us. He knows that when we pursue the lesser earthly pleasures of lust, we miss out on the greater heavenly pleasures. True joy and contentment do not come from fantasies or affairs. Ironically, we even miss out on sexual pleasure when we lose ourselves in fantasy, for the fantasy breeds discontent with reality and yet never reaches the real pleasure of true intimacy.
Lord, thank you for the blessings you promise to those who follow you.
