Psalm 18:1-2
1 I love you, O Lord, my strength. 2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Recovery is hard work. There is no easy path, no magic formulas. But we don't have to do it alone. We can get support from other people, and we can rely on God's strength. This psalm was written in response to God's deliverance of David from Saul. David needed God's help, just as we need God's help, and God did deliver David, just as God will deliver us if we seek Him. The Lord is "my strength" (verse 1), "my rock, "my fortress", "my deliverer", "my shield", "my stronghold" (all in verse 2). Notice the word "my": God is not just "a" rock out there for someone else, He is there for me. And He is strong and powerful and able to accomplish what is needed.
Lord I do love you, and I thank you for being "my strength".
