Psalm 41:4
4 As for me, I said, "O Lord, be gracious to me; heal me, for I have sinned against you!" When we sin, we hurt many people: ourselves, our family and friends, and also God. For when we choose to sin we are choosing to not love God. Thus we need to seek His forgiveness and mercy. But we need more than just forgiveness, we also need healing. One of the foundational questions we need to face is "do we want to change?". Do we just want God to forgive us, pat us on the back, and send us on our merry way, or do we want His help in changing and being healed so that we won't sin again? I confess that I have often not wanted to really change and give up my sin. But if we truly love God and are truly remorseful about the effects of our sin, we will want to be healed. Lord, heal me, for I have sinned against you. |
