Psalm 51:13-17
13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you. 14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, O God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness. 15 O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise. 16 For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
God wants us to be broken and contrite (verse 17). This is in stark contrast to what we normally want for ourselves, especially in the sexual arena, where we try to project an image of being confident, cool, and in control. But it is that very arrogance that gets us into trouble. The truth is that we are not in control of the world, and we are not the answer to every man or woman's dream. The sooner we accept reality and humble ourselves before God, the sooner our healing can begin.
Lord, forgive me for my arrogance.
