Psalm 62:5-8
5 For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. 6 He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. 7 On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. 8 Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.
This encouragement in verse 8 to trust God and pour out our heart to Him is important advice for those of us who are broken. It is so tempting to hide our feelings and our true selves, to withdraw into a protective shell, but we'll never know the light of God's healing when we do that. Rather than turning inward we need to turn outward, to God. Our hope is in God alone (verse 5); He is our fortress (verse 6) and our refuge (verse 8). It is God that we need, not sex; there is nothing else that will satisfy.
God, I confess to often looking for solace in fantasies and other things. But they cannot bring life and peace to my soul - only You can.
