Romans 2:1-3
1 Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. 2 We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. 3 Do you suppose, O man - you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself - that you will escape the judgment of God?
We who have struggled with sin ought to be known for our grace and forgiveness, but unfortunately we are sometimes on the side of condemning judgement. I think part of the problem can be that we hate that part of ourselves, so we then hate others who exhibit that same weakness (and who thus remind us of our own failings). A better response is to acknowledge that we are all broken, we all fail, so let us show grace and model recovery to everyone.
Lord, thank you for Your grace and help me to treat others with the grace you have showed me.
